Those outlaw rockers, Guns N’ Roses, are about to be the subjects of an outlaw comic book--as in unauthorized.
Writer Todd Loren admits that he never got in touch with G&R; about the book, which ships this month. “I hope it’s legal,” he said. “It’s a very positive book--a chronicle of their rise to fame. Kind of like a magazine article--only done with illustrations.”
Loren said that the new Rock ‘N’ Roll Comics--published by the San Diego-based Revolutionary Comics--will feature different heavy metallers quarterly.
Priced at $1.50, the 36-page b&w; comic has a color cover that depicts the rowdy quintet as rock-costumed skeletons. If it takes off, Loren said, “We’ll get in touch with the group about licensing.”
At press time, the Gunners’ managers were unreachable, but a rep for Geffen Records was surprised at news of the comic: “I can’t speak for the managers--or the Gunners. They may scream, or they may shrug. I guess, when you sell 10 million records, this kind of thing happens . . . . “
