A Lakewood man was arrested Friday for visiting a playground and allegedly telling elementary school children he was going to kill them with an assault rifle
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies arrested James Rollin McLane, 27, at his home a few blocks from Grover Cleveland Elementary School, Deputy Hal Grant said. McLane, dressed in military-style clothing, threatened several children when he spoke to them through a chain-link fence around the school’s playground, Grant said.
“He told them he was going to get his AR-15 rifle and come back and kill them,” Grant said.
The children reported the threat to school officials, who called the Sheriff’s Department.
McLane was charged with one count of threatening schoolchildren, a felony, and is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail, Grant said.
