BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. — An 11-year-old boy skiing at Snow Summit slammed into a padded signpost and was killed, officials said Saturday.
Travis Tyburski of Santee died at Big Bear Community Hospital on Friday about two hours after the accident, San Bernardino County Deputy Coroner Don McRunnel said.
The boy was skiing on the moderately difficult Eagle Trip Run about 10:30 a.m. when he slammed into the 4-foot-square sign, striking his head, San Bernardino County sheriff’s dispatcher Duane Lindquist said.
McRunnel said the boy’s father and uncle were with him at the time.
