Ron Weisner (Steve Winwood, Robbie Neville): “Being a manager is a 24-hour a day job. You’re the funnel--you deal with the record company, the publishers, the lawyers, the promoters. Everybody. And the pressure takes its toll. If something goes wrong, you’re the bad guy. If (the artists) have career problems, they can’t take it out on the public. So they take it out on you. Many performers are dreamers--or completely unrealistic. And it’s hard to be rational with irrational people. When I meet with artists in my office, I close my door and say, ‘This is reality. What goes on out there is show business.’ It’s like what Harry Truman used to say. ‘The buck stops here.’ ”
