The car belonging to an 82-year-old Vista man who was found shot to death on Camp Pendleton has been found abandoned at the North County Transit Center in Oceanside.
Oceanside police Officer Dan Shapiro was patrolling the 200 block of South Tremont Street at 11 p.m. Monday when he saw the car in one of the bus station’s parking lots. Police said the car’s license plates had been switched with those of another car.
The car was apparently put there late Saturday or early Sunday, Sgt. Bill Krunglevich said.
Swan Otto Bloomquist was reported missing Jan. 10, when he and his car disappeared after he dropped his wife off at a Carlsbad mall to go shop. His body was found Sunday in a remote northern region of Camp Pendleton by two brothers who were target-practicing.
An autopsy done Monday night showed that Bloomquist died of multiple gunshot wounds, said Deputy Coroner George Dickason.
Because the body was found on government property, the FBI is investigating.
