Bullet Cars

The Times is perversely “Bullish on the Speedy New Taurus” (by Paul Dean, Jan. 2), which has a top speed of 143 m.p.h. The Times keeps telling us that speed kills, yet it is exuberant over a new 143-m.p.h. Ford. I think I’d rather get hit by a .22 bullet than a couple of thousand pounds of Ford steel projectile that is “quicker . . . than the Tokyo-Osaka bullet train.”
