Chapman Women Win, 93-47, Gain Tournament Final

Four starters scored in double figures as Chapman College defeated San Francisco State, 93-47, in the first round of the Doubletree women’s basketball tournament Friday at Chapman.
Kim Rieff, Corine Sandfry and Jennifer Uecke scored 15 points each and Julie King added 14 for Chapman (2-0), which plays Weber State in the championship game at 3:30 today.
Kim Takayama, the other Chapman starter, scored 9 points.
Lisa Schumaker had 9 points and 5 rebounds off the bench, and Jackie Saunders had a team-high 9 rebounds for Chapman.
Chapman shot 52% (41 for 79) from the field, and San Francisco State (0-2) shot 33% (16 of 48).
Weber State defeated United States International University, 91-82, in the other first-round game. USIU plays San Francisco State at 1:30 today.
