Fullerton Women Win Tournament Opener

Jill Matyuch scored 17 points and Gena Miller 15 to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 66-60 victory in the first round of the Converse women’s basketball tournament Friday at Fullerton. It was the season opener for both teams.
Matyuch was 7 of 14 from the field, including 3 of 5 3-pointers. Felicia Benson added 12 points for Fullerton. Tricia Gibson scored 22 for Loyola Marymount.
Fullerton plays Cal Poly Pomona at 8 tonight in the championship game. Loyola Marymount plays St. Mary’s at 6 p.m. in the third-place game.
