A slide show and lecture on “How to Travel Independently” will be presented by Maps to Anywhere Travel Bookstore on Thursday at the store, 1514 N. Hillhurst Ave., Hollywood. Another slide show and lecture, “Papua New Guinea--Stone Age to the Space Age,” will be held next Sunday at at the store. Both at 2 p.m. Admission to each $5. Daily direct flights from Los Angeles to Cancun in the Yucatan will be resumed today by Mexicana Airlines. Departures will be 9 a.m., arriving in Cancun at 4:35 p.m. Flights return from Cancun at 5:05 p.m. and arrive in Los Angeles at 9:25 p.m. Also, Mexicana will start Saturday flights between Los Angeles and Huatulco, a new coastal resort south of Oaxaca, on Saturday.
