Blaise Bryant set several records as he rushed for 330 yards in 46 carries to lead Golden West College to a 31-24 victory over Riverside in a Mission Conference football game Friday at Orange Coast.
Bryant set the Orange County, Mission Conference and Golden West single-season rushing records with 1,691 yards. He set the Orange County single-game record with 330 yards. He also set the Golden West career record with 2,492 yards.
It is the second-best career total in Orange County behind Tony Whipple of Saddleback, who rushed for 2,847 yards in 1969-70.
Bryant had 14 carries in which he gained 10 or more yards and his longest run was for 36 yards. Golden West trailed, 24-21, at the half but Bryant scored on a 20-yard run in the third quarter to put Golden West ahead. Golden West, which didn’t throw a pass in the second half, finished 5-4-1 overall and 2-3 in Central Division play. Riverside is 5-5, 1-4.
