The Pan American Sports Organization said the first winter Pan American Games will be held at Valle de Las Lenas, Argentina, in 1989.
Delegates from 38 countries unanimously approved holding the Winter Games, Sept. 3-15, 1989. Nicaragua was the only member country not represented at the meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
As many as 400 athletes from 14 countries are expected to participate in the Games at Las Lenas, 745 miles from Buenos Aires.
