Spurrier Reprimanded for Criticizing Officials

Steve Spurrier, coach of the Duke University football team, will be barred from Saturday’s Duke-North Carolina game for criticizing officials after last Saturday’s 43-43 tie with North Carolina State.
In an interview after the game, Spurrier said the officials kept his team from winning, and referred to call as “the worst call in the history of Duke football.”
The Atlantic Coast Conference constitution and bylaws prohibit public criticism of officials other than to the conference office.
Spurrier said he hopes his suspension will not have a negative effect on his team Saturday, when the Blue Devils meet North Carolina.
