I am writing to praise you for giving us an excerpt (Editorial Page, Oct. 22) from a short story of Naguib Mahfouz, winner of the 1988 Nobel Prize in Literature.
It seemed a perfect placement--in the editorial section of The Times. I believe our only hope is to become true citizens of the world, which means listening to each other’s voices, especially the voices of artists.
