Private exporters have sold an additional 300,000 metric tons of American corn to the Soviet Union for delivery in the marketing year that began Sept. 1, the Agriculture Department said. The sale brings the total of American corn sold to the Soviets for delivery in the 1988-89 marketing year to 4,715,600 tons. The statement did not provide further details, but last week’s price of $134.50 a metric ton for grain delivered at Rotterdam would make the sale worth about $40.3 million.
