CAMPAIGN ’88 : Kitty Dukakis Beating Viral Bug; Fever Down

Kitty Dukakis, wife of Democratic presidential candidate Michael S. Dukakis, was improved Tuesday but was spending a second night in the hospital because of a viral infection, aides said.
Her temperature had dropped, from 102 degrees on admission to University of Minnesota Hospital on Monday night to 99.8 degrees on Tuesday, Paul Costello, her press secretary, said.
He said she is anxious to resume her campaign schedule, but no decision had been made on when that might be. She still hopes to join her husband in Waterbury, Conn., for a campaign appearance and celebration of his 55th birthday on Thursday, Costello said.
