COLOMBO, Sri Lanka — Nine people, including four soldiers, were killed and 460 guns were stolen Tuesday during a Marxist rebel raid on an army camp in Sri Lanka, a government statement said.
More than 75 rebels attacked the army training camp at Pannala in the central Kurunegala district, it said. Four soldiers, four rebels and a civilian were killed.
Military sources blamed the attack on the People’s Liberation Front, which opposes a pact with India aimed at ending a rebellion by Tamil separatist guerrillas.
