United Brands’ third-quarter earnings fell 63% from last year to $2.7 million. Sales totaled $764 million, down 3%. The Cincinnati food processing company attributed the results to lower Chiquita fresh-fruit profits and costs resulting from the relocation of Chiquita Brands and John Morrell headquarters to Cincinnati.
