Matthiessen Wins 2 Titles at Veteran Tennis Event

Dorothy Matthiessen of Pasadena won two championships Friday in the International Tennis Federation Veteran Championships at the Lindborg Racquet Club in Huntington Beach.
Matthiessen defeated Luis Rank of West Germany, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6, in the women’s 50 and older singles final. She teamed with Jane Crofford to defeat Betty Gigg and Norma Marsh of Australia, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, to win the women’s 50 and older doubles championship.
In men’s play, Ron Livingston of Laguna Beach defeated second-seeded Ken St. Clair of Canada, 6-4, 7-6, in the 55 and older quarterfinals.
Tournament play continues today beginning at 10 a.m.
