Lorimar Telepictures, a television series producer that is being merged into Warner Communications, reported an agreement in principle to sell WPGH-TV, an independent UHF station in Pittsburgh. The buyer is Renaissance Communications, a company organized by Michael Finkelstein and Warburg Pincus Capital. The price was not disclosed, but Culver City-based Lorimar bought the station in 1987 for $21.25 million. A Lorimar spokeswoman said Finkelstein is chief executive of two independent stations, WTXX in Hartford-New Haven, Conn., and WDZL in Miami.
