A motorist standing beside his disabled car on a freeway bridge in Commerce plunged 75 feet to his death Wednesday while trying to dodge a car that crashed into his vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said.
Clemente Medina, 45, of Monterey Park, was killed while examining his car about 12:15 a.m., shortly after it had been disabled in an accident on the northbound Long Beach Freeway south of Washington Boulevard, Officer Monty Keifer said.
When another car struck Medina’s disabled car, he jumped back over the railing and plummeted onto railroad tracks, Keifer said. Medina was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Medina’s car was not cited.
