Former San Pasqual High School instructor Carl Swadell pleaded no contest Wednesday to two misdemeanor counts of child molestation after he was charged with inappropriately touching a 17-year-old female student in a photography darkroom at the school.
Swadell, 62, will be sentenced June 20 before Vista Municipal Judge David Ryan, who accepted Swadell’s plea. He faces a maximum sentence of a year in county jail and/or a $1,000 fine.
Swadell was to go on trial Wednesday for the charge, but pleaded no contest after Deputy Dist. Atty. Kate Elkin was given permission to put on the witness stand other female students who, she said, would testify that they, too, were touched by Swadell.
