Death squads attached to a secret military unit called Battalion 3-16 have apparently re-emerged in Honduras and could be responsible for three recent killings, Amnesty International reported. The London-based human rights group urged Honduras to investigate reports that right-wing death squads were responsible for the killings of Miguel Angel Pavon, president of a local human rights group, a companion of Pavon’s and an army sergeant who was to have testified in a regional human rights court in Costa Rica.
