Local News in Brief : Countywide : Anti-Poverty Agency Plans Public Forums

The Community Development Council, Orange County’s largest anti-poverty agency, has scheduled four forums beginning today to seek public comments on the council’s goals for 1989.
Public testimony will help develop a “Local Plan” to address the needs of low- and fixed-income residents throughout the county, council spokesman Jim Hamlett said.
Hamlett said the council’s $6.5-million annual budget for 1988 assists the county’s poor by offering energy education and programs for weatherproofing homes, and also helps with gas and electric bills, shelter assistance and food. In addition, the agency operates a mobile health clinic.
Today’s forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Rancho Santiago College’s administration building board room in Santa Ana.
Other forums will be held March 23 in Anaheim’s George Washington Community Center, April 27 in the Community Development Council’s headquarters in Costa Mesa, and May 25 at the Laguna Hills Senior Center. All forums begin at 6:30 p.m.
