College Basketball : SCC Men Win; Women Lose

Todd Dixon scored 17 points and Phil Hills 15 to lead Southern California College to a 87-78 victory over Point Loma Nazarene in Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball Tuesday night at Southern California College.
The score was tied at halftime, 40-40, but SCC pulled to a 62-55 lead with 8:30 left to play. Point Loma Nazarene closed the deficit to 79-74 with 1:11 left.
The Vanguards (10-11 overall, 5-2 in conference) got six free throws from Jeff de Laveaga in a span of 30 seconds to clinch the victory.
In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball:
Point Loma Nazarene 62, Southern California College 58--The Vanguards came from a 11-point deficit to within four (62-58) with 25 seconds remaining but could not catch up at home. Gail Brown (13 points, 15 rebounds), Mary Sullivan (11 points) and Paula Hale (10 rebounds) led SCC (9-10, 0-6). Shannon Anderson’s 16 points led Point Loma (15-7, 4-2).
Occidental 79, Pacific Christian College 28--Occidental outscored PCC, 41-16, in the first half at Cal State Fullerton. Debi LaGrow scored 14 points for Pacific Christian.
