Unseasonably high temperatures forced Laurel, Md., race course to cancel its Monday racing card. The day before, jockeys had refused to ride their mounts midway through the program, forcing cancellation of the remainder of that program. Temperatures Sunday afternoon were in the low 60s, and the thaw continued Monday, causing soft spots in the track.
