Censoring School Newspapers
The recent U.S. Supreme Court decision sanctioning censorship by school officials is a good one. Good if you want students not to think for themselves. Good if you want students not to learn how to take responsibility for their lives. Good if you want the schools to produce lemmings.
As a teacher with 11 years of experience, I can tell you that what the schools teach the students best is to sit in their seats, be quiet, and do what they’re told. Those are important virtues to inculcate in our children. We certainly don’t want to provoke them or cause them to question, explore or express themselves honestly.
After all, the United States of America is a fascist dictatorship, isn’t it?
