CSUN Women Upend San Luis Obispo, 71-62

Led by Marianne Dixon’s 15 points, the Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team played one of its best games of the season, defeating Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 71-62, Saturday night at the CSUN gym.
It was the first nonconference loss for the Lady Mustangs, who dropped to 9-8 overall and 3-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn.
Northridge is 8-10, 2-2 in the CCAA. Dixon also had eight rebounds as the Lady Matadors finished with a 48-34 edge in that department. Northridge, which played without guards Vicki Mallett and Joy Ridout, shot 51.9% compared to San Luis Obispo’s 34.5%.
Mallett, the team’s leading scorer, and Ridout are academically ineligible.
