A pit bull that broke through its owner’s backyard fence in Huntington Beach attacked and killed a neighbor’s dog with such fury that it gnawed through its rhinestone-studded collar, county animal control officials said Saturday.
As a result of the attack on the white Maltese, which occurred Thursday on Kanakoa Lane, the owners of the pit bull released the animal to the county so that it could be destroyed.
Lt. Bill Donald, a spokesman for the Department of Animal Control, said he didn’t know what motivated the attack.
