North Korean Athletes Are Significant Factor
- Share via
My joy over learning that the Soviet athletes would be coming to the Games was diminished only by the suggestion that I thought the team from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was “not a significant factor.” In fact, I do believe that the athletes of North Korea are as significant as any Olympians.
As one who was denied the opportunity to compete in 1980, I have a strong commitment to full participation by athletes of all nations.
I do truly hope that every Olympian, especially the athletes from the DPR of Korea, will have a chance to compete in Seoul, and in every Olympics that follows.
