Unoccupied Sailboat Found Drifting
Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol conducted an air and sea search off Sunset Beach Saturday night after an unmanned sailboat was found drifting off the coast, according to Lt. Larry Khune.
The search began around 6:30 p.m.
The effort involved vessels and a helicopter from the Coast Guard, and a sheriff’s helicopter.
Khune said police were unable to determine whether the boat, which was intact and showed no signs of fire, had simply broken loose from a mooring or whether anyone had fallen overboard.
