Long jumper Bob Beamon and skiier Billy Kidd, who made history with spectacular performances in the 1960s, were among 11 athletes and two teams receiving Olympic Spirit Awards during a ceremony in Washington.
Besides Beamon and Kidd, individual honorees were Dave Wottle, track, 1972; Mike Curran, hockey, 1972; Margaret Murdock, shooting, 1976; Andy Mill, skiing, 1976; Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner, figure skating, 1980; Tracy Caulkins, swimming, 1980; Jeff Blatnick, wrestling, 1984, and Scott Hamilton, figure skating, 1984.
