Local News in Brief : Car Kills Boy on Bike in Canyon Country

A 6-year-old boy on a bicycle died after a car struck him in front of his Canyon Country home, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Jason White rode a bike over a mound of dirt at the edge of Lost Canyon Road west of Sand Canyon Road and into the path of the car about 7 p.m. Thursday, Officer Tori Jackson said.
The driver of the car, Angela Pitarro, 25, of Canyon Country apparently was unhurt, Jackson said. Pitarro was not arrested, but an investigation is continuing.
The car was traveling 20 to 25 m.p.h., Jackson said. White was pronounced dead at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia at 11:06 p.m.
