Joe Reid, the boys’ basketball coach at Estancia High School the past three seasons, announced his resignation Monday night.
Reid, who is married and has seven children, cited family obligations and too demanding a schedule as his reasons. He taught four classes at Mission Viejo High School before traveling to Estancia to teach another class and then coach. Reid will continue to teach at Mission Viejo.
Reid, 43, had a career record of 50-29 at Estancia, which won the Sea View League and was 25-4 overall in 1984-85, his first season. Estancia lost to Capistrano Valley, 60-54, in overtime in the second round of the Southern Section playoffs in the 1984-85 season.
Estancia was 14-12 in 1985-86 and 11-13 last season.
