Two Plead Guilty to Peddling Steroids
Two amateur body builders from Altadena pleaded guilty in Los Angeles federal court Tuesday to charges that they ran a multimillion-dollar black market in anabolic steroids by smuggling the drug into the country from West Germany and supplying underground dealers.
Andy Lodi, 31, and his wife, Irene, 28, pleaded guilty to illegal distribution of steroids, prosecutor George Newhouse said.
Prosecutors said they sold about $3-million worth of the drug, a synthetic protein often used by athletes to build muscle mass and strength.
Chief U.S. District Judge Manuel L. Real set sentencing for July 13.
