A 9-year-old Anaheim boy, injured in a traffic accident Saturday, died Sunday at UCI Medical Center in Orange, a coroner’s spokesman said.
The boy, Hector Bernal, was a passenger in a pickup truck that collided with a van on Anaheim Boulevard at South Street about 8:15 p.m. Saturday, police said.
The boy was thrown through the windshield and suffered major head and torso injuries, they said. The driver of the van, Frank Marion, 67, of Anaheim, was reported in stable condition at Western Medical Center. Neither he nor the pickup’s driver, Julian Bernal, was cited in the accident.
