The second phase of the $500-million, 850-acre Mountain Meadows master-planned community opens today in Moorpark with the simultaneous unveiling of three neighborhoods--Buttercreek Estates, Countryside and QuailRidge--that will have 725 houses when completed.
The initial stage of the 2,500-home development by Urban West Communities, Santa Monica, also involved three neighborhoods. The 746 houses in the initial phase have all been sold and occupied, according to a spokesman for the firm.
Mountain Meadows includes an eight-acre park and a 69-acre park site donated to the city; an elementary school, scheduled to open in September; a high school, scheduled to open next year; a planned 7 1/2-acre retail shopping center, and a planned four-acre “community use” area for churches, a library and similar uses.
Fourteen furnished models are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at Tierra Rejada Road and Mountain Meadow Drive. The houses are priced from $175,500 to $330,000.
