Sweden routed Canada, 9-0, in Vienna to win its first World Hockey Championship in 25 years.
The Soviet Union rallied to defeat Czechoslovakia, 2-1, to also finish with four points in the medal round, but Sweden won the title on goal difference. Czechoslovakia had three points and was third.
