The nation’s third-largest steelmaker conceded that it has been examining the effects of a possible bankruptcy law filing, but the company’s chairman stressed in a published report that the company doesn’t plan such a move soon. Bethlehem Steel has posted losses in 17 of its last 20 quarters. Analysts expect the Bethlehem, Pa.-based firm to report an operating profit during the first half of the year, and the steelmaker has made no unusual moves signaling a bankruptcy.
