For the third time in 10 months, Anaheim detectives have arrested escort service operator Alfonso Lopez on suspicion of operating a prostitution ring in the guise of a dating service.
Lopez, 43, has been out on bail awaiting trial in connection with what police have called one of Orange County’s largest call-girl operations. Law enforcement officials allege that Lopez was the man behind Exotic, Chi Chi, She, and Adam and Eve Escorts, a prostitution network with more than 50 women bringing in hundreds of thousands of tax free dollars a year.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Kenneth O. Chinn, who will prosecute the Lopez case this April in Orange County Superior Court, said Friday, “It looks like Al is still running the (illicit) service.”
Police first arrested the Buena Park resident in May, 1986, and then again in August for allegedly continuing to operate the four escort services.
At that time, Lopez, along with his girlfriend Wendy Haskin, were charged with 41 counts of pimping and pandering.
Anaheim’s latest arrest of Lopez was in connection with operating Exotic Escorts, Chinn said. Arrested with him were Nancy Christina Amaral, 39, and Bill Bernard Bumpass, 30. All three have been charged with two counts of felony pimping and pandering, said Chinn.
