RIVERSIDE — Police arrested about 8 to 10 people during picketing at a Rohr Industries Inc. plant here today as aerospace machinists staged their first strike in 16 years at the plant and another in Chula Vista near San Diego.
Members of the International Assn. of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Locals 755 and 964 voted overwhelmingly to reject the company’s latest contract offer and struck the firm at 12:01 a.m. Monday, when their previous contract expired. About 4,600 machinists walked out.
