Iraq said shelling by Iranian artillery killed 10 civilians in the southern port city of Basra and that Iraqi warplanes continued to bomb cities in Iran. The official Iraqi News Agency said that Iraqi jets attacked the northern city of Tabriz and the western garrison town of Dezful. Iran’s official Islamic Republic News Agency said some staff members and hospital patients were killed in the raid on Tabriz, and Iran announced it has dispatched 130,000 volunteers to the front in response to the raids on its cities. Meanwhile, Iran said its shelling destroyed oil installations in eastern Iraq, from which 130,000 barrels of oil a day had been exported through Saudi Arabia.
