American Matt Roy drove a redesigned sled to victory in the World Cup two-man bobsled races at Mount van Hovenberg in Lake Placid, N.Y., to take over first place in the season standings.
Roy, of Saranac Lake, N.Y., and brakeman Jim Jerberich, of Winchester, Mass., posted the three fastest times of the four-heat event to win by more than a second over a British sled driven by Mark Tout, with David Armstrong on the brake.
Brent Rushlaw, of Saranac Lake, and Hal Hoye, of Malone, N.Y., were third.
