Illegal Aliens

Reading the article (Jan. 26), “Illegals: You’d Be Surprised,” really did surprise me. I was never aware of how stereotypical our society is when it comes to the issue of illegal immigration.
This article showed me that an illegal alien, usually viewed (by me, a Latin-American, and lots of other people) as a poor, uneducated, Hispanic person with dark features, is and can also be a successful, middle-class, educated, American-looking business man or woman usually coming from foreign places like Ireland, Canada, or Iran (just to name a few).
In other words, people who have been living here illegally have become successful and financially well off simply because they look American. People shouldn’t judge others as being illegal simply by the way they look, because now you don’t know who is. Rather, we should say that an illegal alien is someone coming from a foreign country in search of a better way of life.
