Bob Foster, a former boxing champion and now a deputy sheriff in New Mexico, has been put on administrative leave with pay because of allegations of improper investigative procedures.

Foster, 47, who held the undisputed light-heavyweight boxing title from 1968-1973, was relieved of his duties by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Dept. The allegations concern an armed robbery case Foster prepared, but which was later dropped when a controversy arose about whether identifications by witnesses were solid or not.
