Weather--It’s Weak In as Week’s Out

Weak is the weekend weather word as a weak storm passes through the area today before giving way to a weak Santa Ana condition Saturday and Sunday.
There is a 30% chance of showers this morning, National Weather Service forecaster Wilbur Shigehara said. Rainfall should be light.
“This is about the fourth storm in a row that will hit Northern California a lot harder than us,” Shigehara said. “Again, we will get the weak southern tail of it, with just enough rain to wet the streets.”
Clear skies and mild weather should prevail by Saturday morning, when a weak Santa Ana is expected to blow into the area. The clear skies will mean cooler nights, however, and brief periods of frost are expected in some inland areas.
“Without the clouds, nighttime temperatures will be about eight degrees cooler than they’ve been this week,” Shigehara said. “They should even get down to the low 30s in the coldest areas. However, those kind of temperatures do not scare farmers. It’s when they’re in the 20s for an extended period of time that they start getting concerned.”
The high tides are decreasing, but the tide will reach 7.3 feet about 10:30 this morning. This, coupled with increased surf, means inexperienced surfers and swimmers are asked to exercise caution and to refrain from venturing into the ocean.
“If you’re not a good surfer or swimmer, don’t try to challenge it (the surf),” Shigehara said. “This storm, though it is weak, will whip up the surf right at the high tide time. People should use caution and common sense before going out into it.”
The surf will continue at three to five feet through the weekend. Ocean temperature remains near 57 degrees.
Beaches will have highs today from 59 to 62, warming to 64 to 66 Saturday and Sunday. Lows will be in the upper 50s both nights.
Inland areas will have highs between 60 and 65 today, nudging up to the upper 60s Saturday and the low 70s Sunday. Overnight lows will range from 35 to 45 in most areas, and near 30 in the colder ones.
Mountains will have highs in the low 40s through the weekend and lows in the mid 20s. Desert highs will be in the low 70s and lows in the 40s.
