Consolidated Rail Corp. of Philadelphia posted an increase in income for the fourth quarter of 1986, compared to the period a year ago, while income for the full year dropped. Conrail’s traffic in the fourth quarter of 1986, as measured by tariff-based ton miles (the product of the weight of freight carried for hire and the distance in tariff miles between origin and destination) was up 5.6% versus the fourth quarter of 1985. For the full year 1986, tariff-based ton miles were 3.2% higher than 1985.
