Abstract artist Syd Solomon of Sarasota, Fla., is the winner of this year’s Florida Prize, a $10,000 award given to a Floridian for outstanding work in the visual or performing arts. The prize, sponsored by the New York Times Co. Regional Newspaper Group, is awarded on the basis of an individual’s entire body of work rather than a specific presentation.
