Crash Kills Driver: A 29-year-old man was fatally injured Wednesday afternoon when the car he was driving crashed into a tree in the 1700 block of West Warner Avenue, police reported. Police Lt. Jack Nelson said the driver, Ignacio Montoya of Santa Ana, was pronounced dead at the scene. Nelson said that Montoya was alone in the car and that no other vehicles were involved. “The vehicle being driven by Montoya was westbound on Warner when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway and struck a large tree in the center divider, almost cutting the vehicle in half,” Nelson said. “Preliminary investigation indicates that Montoya was speeding when he lost control.”
