San Pedro : Church, School Expansion
The congregation of Christ Lutheran Church on Western Avenue recently approved a $1.2-million expansion of the church and its school, according to school Principal John R. Troutman.
The project, expected to begin in June, calls for razing one of three buildings on the church grounds and replacing it with a larger building that will serve both the church and the school, which has 270 students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
A second building will be remodeled, he said. The church itself will not be affected by construction.
The new building will include six school classrooms, a day-care center, a library, counseling and conference rooms, an adult center and church offices, Troutman said. Fund raising for the project will begin Jan. 18, he said.
