Ameritex Inc. Acquires Chronomark of Orange

Ameritex Inc., a Fountain Valley manufacturer and distributor of industrial sealants and car parts, said it has acquired privately held Chronomark Inc. for about $300,000 in cash and 250,000 shares of Ameritex common stock valued at about $600,000.
Ameritex plans a heavy marketing campaign for the sole product that Chronomark manufactures, an anti-car-theft device that uses chemicals and stencils to permanently etch an auto maker’s identification number into all windows of a vehicle. With the number readily recognizable to police and auto repair shop workers, car thieves would have to replace the windows before selling the stolen vehicle.
Chronomark, based in Orange, sells the device primarily to auto dealers, an Ameritex spokesman said.
